Beech is interesting in the way stain gets absorbed into the grain. In the situations where there is figured grain known as “flame”, stain penetrates deeply. In the straighter grained areas of lumber, stain appears more uniform. Our examples below illustrate, to some degree, an idea of the variation of tone and graining within Beech.
